Dock Landing Ship's (LSDs) Mission Statement

Dock Landing Ships (LSDs) support amphibious operations.
They use a well dock to transport and launch landing craft and
amphibious vehicles. They mainly carry Air Cushion Landing Craft
(LCACs), coventional landing craft, and operate helicopters to
carry Marines onto hostile shores.
